Van Lang University • 21 July 2026
"Invited an international PhD researcher in Game Design to my classroom via Zoom for a guest presentation followed by personalized 1-on-1 studio desk critiques for every student."
Bridging Global Game Design Academia with Studio Practice
To enrich my game design curriculum at Van Lang University and expose students to international academic methodologies, I organized a dedicated guest lecture session featuring an international PhD researcher in Game Design.
Interactive 1-on-1 Studio Build Critiques
Following the presentation, we transformed the lecture into an active studio critique session. I moved across the classroom desk by desk with the mobile setup, allowing each student to screenshare and present their active game builds directly to the guest lecturer.
Pedagogical Takeaways
Direct peer and guest critiques remain one of the most effective pedagogical tools in design education. Hearing external evaluations from a global researcher validated students' hard work and sparked deeper analytical rigor.
